Autumn festival

The children's attraction on Bern's local mountain

Fun and games all day

In September, the legendary children's festival takes place on Bern's local mountain: Look forward to fun and entertainment at the autumn festival!
Every year at the beginning of autumn, the Gurten is transformed into a fairground-like event with a wide variety of child-friendly attractions. Many exciting activities, games and competitions are offered for the children. The Gurtengärtli opens its garden gate so that children can make great objects to take home. At various booths of our partners*innen can be tinkered, puzzled, played and snacked and various performances on stage encourage the children to marvel, laugh and participate.

The Autumn Festival on the Gurten is supported by the Migros Culture Percentage.

More information about the Fall Festival and the program will be announced at the beginning of September.

A good 70 years ago, Ferdinand Bärtschi performed for the first time with an entertainment program for children at the inauguration of the new mountain station. For forty years he repeated his performance with the hand organ and built a small, wooden children's stage on the Gurtenwiese. Every year, during the autumn vacations, the children presented their favorite hits, recited poems or told jokes in front of a large audience. EVERYONE (JEder) CAN (KAnn) PARTICIPATE (MItmachen) - that was the motto back then and it still is today. Ferdinand's offer enjoyed great popularity and the Gurten - Park im Grünen Foundation decided to revive this children's stage in 2016.
